Academy Portrait Class

The Academy of Fine Art

Still Life and Portraiture offered Fall of 2018

For 14 years the Academy of Fine Art has been dedicated to providing Artists of all abilities the opportunity to  improve their painting and drawing skills through time  tested exercises with a professional faculty.

New for Fall of 2018. The Academy will be offering classes open to the public versus the full time program. Any and all artists are encouraged to join in with our current students and staff.

Our first 2 classes offered will be a still life class and portrait class in oil or acrylic. These classes will be instructed by David Carpenter. David holds his Masters in Fine Art and has been teaching at The Academy for 5 years. He also instructs at 3 Wisconsin Universities throughout the school year.

David is known for his wonderful sketching abilities during class and hands on painting demonstrations to help students clearly understand what he is teaching.

Still Life Class will be held on 6 consecutive Tuesday mornings 9am - 12pm, September 25 - October 30, 2018.They will take place on the second floor of The Mill Art Center. Students will be given an area to create their still life and paint that will remain set up for the entire 6 weeks.

Each class will be 3 hours long and include class demonstrations and one on one instruction by David Carpenter. Students have the opportunity to work in their studios Tuesday until 3:30pm. This studio time will be uninstructed and give the students time to work on their set ups and paintings outside of the scheduled class. This extra time is not mandatory and included in the tuition.

The Academy will provide a space for each student, an easel, lighting, a side table and stool.

Student responsibilities will include bringing their own painting and clean up supplies along with objects for their still life.

Minimum 7 students.

**As a bonus! Students that take both the still life class and portrait class may also work in their studios on Thursday afternoons after portrait class until 3:30pm.
